Great boutique hotel right on the V&A with wonderfuly friendly staff, brilliant buffet breakfasts in the morning, room service, a bar, undercover parking, nightly turndown service etc We had a great stay, most rooms dont have the best views but the staff really make up for it. Lovely experience will definitely return

I love the portswood, the hotel itself is old worldly and its nautical theme works well for those into boating. The staff here are the most friendly I've met in South Africa and if you treat them well, you'll find they'll bend over backward to help you out. The restaurant presents fantastic food, especially for such a small hotel and the specialities that Mandlakayise prepared for me are absolutly world class. The rooms are kept immaculate and well appointed for a cozy themed hotel. Its situated 100m away from the waterfront with its eateries, boats and tourist shopping, there is also a full sized mall for everything else you might want. This was my first visit here, it wont be my last.

We stayed here for our honeymoon it was a pretty good hotel! The staff was friendly, the room was always clean, and it is centrally located in the Water Front area!

Good place, great location We booked a suite so it was spacious, open plan areas, decent sized bathroom. It was walking distance to the V&A waterfront which was awesome. I wish we had access to the fridge though, it was locked so you can't add your drinks. I wish they would include the parking amount into the price of accommodation so you don't feel like you pay for parking. It's crazy to think that you pay R1000's of rands and at the end they make you pay R75 a day for parking!

Of all the hotels that I've stayed at around the world, the service at The Portswood has definitely been the best. All of the staff are very friendly, helpful, and clearly want to make your stay a positive experience. The room was very clean, and the location/proximity to the V&A Waterfront ensures that you'll feel safe at all times.
