::I absolutely adore this shop! The decor can only be described as Dubai-kitsch meets South African platteland. The owners are really nice and they seem to have a good base of regular customers who frequent the cafe. The food (I had the toast with mince and an egg) was deliciously hearty. The coffee (Peacock brand) was less inspiring. Nevertheless, this is a lovely coffee shop - a quirky little oasis in a desert of generic coffee shops.

::My all-time favourite in George. Hungry Camel is a local place - the 'Oom' and 'Tannie' are always friendly and not only serve the customers themselves, but also make the food using fresh ingredients. The prices are really good. I would say inexpensive and definitively the best value for money that I've found for a day-time cafe. My favourite dish is the Salami and Fetta Croissant (R36 and it's a filling meal for me), but the beef cheese burger and chips (about R54) come a close second on those really hungry days. If you prefer, breakfast is served all day, and they do include options like building your own omelette, which can make it more carb-friendly. Outside are about three tables which allow for smoking. The interior decor is warm and filled with camel dolls, pictures of camels, and generally anything camel-ish while 80's and 90's music gives it almost an American Diner feeling. My lunch dates are almost always at Hungry Camel, and I've never been disappointed with them before.
