  The only way to describe my experience with the British High Commission in Pretoria is nothing more than totally pathetic. Not even sure why they have an office here as they don't seem to do anything there. Can't even answer a phone. If you're a British citizen stranded in South Africa and in dire straights, don't expect any help from the Pretoria office.

  Terrible service. Promises are not kept. Phones not answered. Diabolical. Are you proud of your so called "service" - shocking beyond belief. Where does it say you cannot get a visitor's visa if you have had a right of abode before? So this was denied. We had to pay a huge amount for a fastback right of abode - promised in 5 working days. 7 days have gone. Phoned England - useless and it cost 20 pounds. Cannot speak to anyone. Shocking and so upset. We will now lose our ticket overseas because of your terrible "don't care" attitude, and to make things worse, we are actually British.
