I will give credit where it is due. The renewal of my driver's licence was a breeze at the Boksburg Licence Department. The most difficult part was to book a slot online as they are not readily available...thereafter the process was smooth, efficient and hassle free! It took me 40 minutes to apply for my renewal ( would have been half the time if we didn't have to wait 20 minutes for the computers to start up...I booked the earliest slot at 08h00). Fetching my card took 7 minutes and it arrived 6 weeks of the application. Thank you for making it such an easy and swift experience. Two thumbs up from me. Well done team!.

Over 60's can walk in without appointments on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You get slotted into the appointment queue. Took us two and a half hours. Very pleasant and efficient staff. Just have all your paperwork correct.

10h50 appointment, got there 09h30, out at 10h15. No complaints here. Well organised and I am glad I did not go through the effort to get eye tests prior to the appointment. It is so quick, rather just do it there. You wont really save any time doing it before. The lady that does the eye tests does everything else: signs your form, fingerprints etc and then you go pay. The cashier guy takes your money, do the temp licence in a jiffy and you are out of there. Card payments only, no cash on the day I was there.

The service was great. I booked online to renew my driver's license. You will need printed copies of the below: 1. Online Booking confirmation. 2. Two drivers license photos, colour or black and white. 3. Pen. 4. ID document and a printed copy of your ID. 5. Your driver's license card. To Pay, you will need a credit card or cheque card. No cash transactions The total cost was R300 for a renewal and temporary drivers licence When I arrived I went to the first window on the left at the front door. They ask for your ID, Booking confirmation and drivers licence. Then after confirming that you have booked online, you get the forms to fill in and instructions to which sections to fill in. Then you go inside after a security check. The waiting area for drivers licence renewal is to the left when you enter. When they call your name you go through to an eye testing station where your eyes are tested. You give them your driver licence, ID one photo and you're completed forms. I did not go to the optometrist for eye testing as it is done here. Then they take your fingerprints and give all your documents back. After that, you go to the cashier for payment and remember to request a temporary drivers licence from the cashier. Payment is done with your card. This took just over an hour for me.

I booked online to renew my licence! Was fairly quick and easy, everyone is helpful and friendly! The only negative thing is that there is only one cashier, I think it will go a lot quicker with at least a second cashier! Was there for just over an hour! What you need to renew your licence: Make a booking online. A pen. A copy of your ID. Your ID. Your existing Drivers Licence. You can bring an eye test from an optometrist (Some Spec Savers branches do it for free! Just phone and make sure, also find out if you need to make a booking) 1x ID photo (2 if you need a temporary Licence) R228 if you don't need a temporary ID. R300 if you need a temporary ID. (Card payments only, no cash) How it works: Arrive 1hr before your booking. Fill in the form that they give you (Sections A, B and D) Do your eye test if you haven't already gotten one from an optometrist. Fingerprints and signature as well a photo's. Payment.
