::Our experience as different, we where at the Sandton emergency rooms over the weekend at 3am. The doctor that helped us was nice however the female doctor that took over from the other doctors shift was absolutely rude. We were there up until 8am, when I asked to see the doctor to enquire what was wrong with my partner she stormed into the partitioned room telling me that she does not have a crystal ball, they made my partner do a blood test to which they could tell us nothing from it which was close to R2000 and once again she repeated herself stating she does not have a crystal ball without anyone probing her. Its unbelievable that someone who is equally as educated as I am would undermine another forgetting their vows they made upon completion of their studies. What was more sad that this female doctor did not have any people skills nor did she take into consideration that we were there since 3am up until 8am. She was also rude to the nurse in front of us (the paying client) which was highly unprofessional. I would never want her to help us nor another again. In terms of service delivery this is not the scope of why private hospitals were established.

::The only positive i have for this hospital is that its clean. Other than that the service delivery from the staff is poor and pathetic. I spent two days there visiting someone close to me. They were constantly in pain and despite telling the nursing staff nothing was done at all. Besides continously doing several tests with no obvious outcomes being relayed. This hospital and its doctors have to do way much better. Their services are totally pathetic.

::My father is currently at Morningside Mediclinic after suffering a stroke. Since being there, he has picked up an infection, and has been stabbed by a catheter bleeding uncontrollably throughout the night. Mediclinic is unable to provide him with a Urologist as they tell me that "all Urologists are on leave". My father is in a critical state, and that's the best answer they can give me. Its unacceptable!

::This is a small hospital that does have certain specialities that it focuses on (general surgery, orthopaedics and urology and renal) however they can treat a wide variety of conditions thanks to specialist physicians. The emergency center is well staffed by compassionate nurses and doctors. It is able to treat patients in a critical condition (I have been one). Unfortunately those that are complaining about the EC do not understand the triage system. The ICU and high care units are both well staffed with 1:1 and 1:2 nursing respectively. They are able to handle neurological patients, post-op patients, those with infectious diseases and those requiring a high level of ventilation. The doctors that run these units have received highly specialised training. The wards are staffed by dedicated and empathetic nurses which are hard to find these days. They have a good knowledge of medicine yet at the same time are able to look after their patients on an emotional level as well. It is the first hospital I’ve been to where doctors don’t treat nurses like dirt (and I have been to a LOT of hospitals!) nurses and doctors work well as a team, ensuring patients receive the absolute best care possible.
