::Facinating that it is still functional after so many years! Well preserved and manages to capture some of South Africa's history in between all the more modern developments all around it. Well worth a visit.

::This is a vast and imposing piece of architecture situated right next to church square near the houses of parliament and around the corner from government avenue. A wag used to hang a yoyo from the finger of the sculpture at the front of the church. Despite having walked past it hundreds of times I have not seen it open which is unfortunate as I would love to see inside. Like many churches I am struck by the immense size and think about all the resources that went into building it. In my opinion it is not fantastic architecture - very imposing, heavy and totalitarian in feeling. The building seems quite well maintained.
