  I visited the dentist last week to have my teeth washed. Upon noticing a scar of my tongue the Oral Hygenist then asked if the Dentist can have a look at my tongue as the scar looked unsual. I was happy with that of course, the doctor had a look for about 5 min, took a picture of the scar and recommended that I buy 'sore' medication for the tongue. I was surprised then to be charged a full consultation fee for 'the dentist having a look at the scar on my tongue'...I would've appreciated if I was told in advance that I was gonna be charged since my only intention of going there, was to wash my teeth. I understand that Doctors have to charge for consultations but if you volunteerly 'want to take a look' at something on me, rather mention the cost in advance too.
