  This gate is essentially the stage of my transition to adulthood. How many times have I passed through the grey and red stone gates? Too many to count. The misadventures, the lectures, the friends, the romances, the late nights, the parties, the immoral activity - I was certainly not the first to live that life, and I will not be the last either. The scenes that played out here were a mixed bag: ones of love and hate, frustration and triumph. It’s not easy to let go of the student life - one’s university years are surely amongst the best in anyone’s life. I’m fortunate enough to have spent seven years at the University of Pretoria in various capacities. Yes, there are better universities out there. Yes, there are better lecturers. Yes, there are better facilities. But a university isn’t a bunch of buildings; it’s the people who make it. The colleagues, the compatriots, the buddies, the competitors, the drunks. These gates saw the openings to scenes of both love and hate - but ultimately, they were much more often ones of love.

  Best campus ever!!🤗 I love it. Security are very strict which is excellent!! True a AMAZING university to be at.

  Better than most entrances if you aren't registered yet. Takes you straight to the HSB

  Vibrant environment, beautiful architecture and gardens as well as quality teaching. Finding a parking spot close by might be difficult, including parking in the Engineering parkade during peak hours.
