Pleasantly surprised by how clean and large the park was! The staff was also super friendly. I will definitely be back with more family members.

Amazing place. Expected a quick half hour walk around and ended being an hour 'n a half! R55 (for adults) well spent! Bird show is Tuesday to Sunday so a bit disappointed we got there on a Monday but still well worth it!!

A most beautiful sanctuary set in a lush tropical park that provides lovely shade on a hot day. Most birds are in cages, but you can enter some larger aviaries, too. And some birds are just flying around freely. The free flight bird show (11 and 2pm) is great fun. There are play areas for kids, a cafe, and you can buy foof to feed the lorakeets which readily hop onto your hand. A really nice place! There's a bit of refurbishment going on, and one path is closed to give the birds privacy for breeding. Fair enough, but it means you can't see all of the area and birds at the mo (April 2018), hence 4 not 5 stars.

If you haven't yet been to the Umgeni River Bird Park it is well worth making a trip there! Something for everyone; be it sitting in one of the enclosures and watching the magnificent and brightly coloured bird life filling the trees around you or even sitting on your shoulder; or walking through and admiring the wide variety of local and international species; spending some time in the nursery with the new arrivals; or sitting having an amazing cappuccino or beverage while the kids play on the swings, jungle gym or jumping castle. A must though is to go watch the bird show. Really a treat for young and old. We went with the family ranging from our 2 year old right through to great granny at 89! We will be back for sure.
