::We went because we saw an article in Business Day about an auction to be held here. Although it looks a bit strange when you drive in because there are huge piles of wood everywhere, keep going and you will come upon a show-room, which when we went was set up with rare books and prints for the auction. There are also sculptures, produced by a community of sculptors who live on the property. Most interesting to us was a storeroom of books, mainly on and from Africa. Absolutely fascinating to see not only well-known conventional books, but, for example, bound reports of meetings about municipal affairs back in the early 20th Century. We were then taken through to the main house, which was like a sort of museum, with more books (not accessible to us on the day), prints and sculptures. The people were friendly and welcoming, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
