  Beautifully restored artifacts of South African military history. Every place has a history to it, however, there are very few people who appreciate and make time to indulge in the past. One should not miss the military museum if interested in history. I hardly knew of South Africa's role in the world war till I visited the museum. I took the red bus to tour Joburg however, spent half a day in the museum for the wonderful artifacts they have.

  A surprisingly interesting museum. Wonderful collection and display of memorabilia of the World Wars that South Africa participated in as well as displays on South Africa military history. My only complaint was when we left we decided to put a small donation into the donation box in the main foyer by the ticket office however when we tried to put money through the small opening of the donation box, the money would not go down and was open to be being pulled out/taken by anyone. We brought this matter to the attention of the person in the ticket office and the security guard on duty in the foyer and they informed us that the donation box was full. If it was full then there was a lot of money in it because it is a large donation box. They also informed us that the curator had the keys for the box so they could do nothing about the fact that the money donated into the donation box is completely open to stealing. Please do something about this, because the money donated is meant for the museum and not for the staff or any other individuals.

  Without a doubt, my absolute favorite museum! The collection of 4 Nazi planes is literally priceless - representing only a handful of those remaining world-wide. The 1-man submarine and the South African Airforce jets are spectacular, along with the legendary G5 and G6 cannons and a big variety of WWII Allied tanks. A comprehensive collection of firearms, uniforms, swords and Allied planes is completed with little treasures in between, in the form of models, artifacts, fascinating stories, and character portrayals. And don't forget the moving monument in the yard outside!

  Beautiful museum. There is a wide variety of historical information and antiques to view. There are things you can touch and some you cannot touch . The museum is centrally located next to the JHB ZOO and the entrance fee is quite cheap. I wish there was some signs inside the museum to make navigating the museum easier and quite interesting . There are lots of real planes and tanks to see.

  Definitely worth your time. If you enjoy War History this is a must. Clean And Neat exhibits with lots of interesting items. Make sure you take some water with, its a bit of a walk and the halls are quite hot in summer. But a great experience.
