    I am a freelance software developer, foreign national with family in South Africa. Before a member of my family came here, I decided to change my equipment and buy a new laptop since the prices there seemed to be quite good (my country faces an import problem and it's quite difficult to get proper high-quality tech goods here). After some research I found out that Simplicity accepted foreign credit cards without any trouble (this may sound funny, but actually that is not giving for granted in several "massive" South African websites). I chose a brand new Macbook which clearly said they had IN STOCK and the delivery would take 3-5 working days. I ordered it on 27/11, and immediately called and emailed them the next working day to ask if everything was alright and if they could ship it before 4/12, since the flight was the 5th . On Monday they sent me an email saying they will check with the supplier and after a short while I got another one saying everything was OK and the laptop will be there much before that Friday. 2 days passed and since I got no tracking number I decided to check in and email them again, but I got no answer. When I phoned them they said they “read my email already” (I don't understand why they didn't answer...) and then they PROMISED ME that I will get my laptop before the flight. I sent another email the next day (Thursday) since I didn't get any tracking number yet, and again, NO ANSWER. I phone them and AGAIN, they said “they saw my email already” (but they didn't answer it!!). The lady I talked with insisted that the laptop was still coming, although it was clear that it was impossible. The same lady called my family on Friday morning saying they were very sorry and that they had a problem with the supplier. They told my family they could try to send it that night very late, or if they had a vehicle they could drive 4kms from Joburg airport to fetch the laptop!!!!! (YES, they were expecting them to go out of the airport, drive 4kms and then go in again, I have never heard something so crazy like that). After much insisting, they tried to send it with an express courier service but then they said that “the orders were already closed” (it was 11AM). As last resource, they wanted that a member of my family go out of the on-transit zone, meet with a member of them in a coffee shop and they will give the laptop there. I couldn't believe my ears, and I can't imagine somebody being so unprofessional. Of course, I refused the offer and said somebody will still pick up the laptop where they sent it. Luckily, I am going to SA again after new year, and I can pick up the laptop there, but probably I won't be able to get the VAT back and I will have to pay it TWICE, since the ticket will be from last year. But this is not all (as if it wasn't enough). I sent them an extremely detailed email, written so that a 5yo kid would understand, requiring some changes in the billing address since their website didn't allow me to choose my country (actually I think only South Africa is there), and they DID IT WRONG. When they opened the box the information in the ticket was still wrong, and I even got an email confirming that they got the changes right before!. I only got my laptop in my family's house on 09/12, and after sending them another email I called them, and again the same response: “yes, we saw your email” BUT NO ANSWER!! I finally got my invoice changed last night, but I even don't know if it's a valid one. In conclusion, if you are looking for a professional retail seller, who is willing to keep his word and won't disappoint you, DON'T use Simplicity. Now, if you don't care about times, professionalism, and a decent customer service, Simplicity is perfect for you.
