Why do we have SAPS????I reported a fraud claim on Friday morning at Norkem police station. It's advised that I would receive a case number during the day(Friday)per sms. On Saterday morning (24 hrs later)I phoned the police station to enquirer as to when I would receive a case number that I could submit it to my bank for investigation of the case. I was advised the system is slow, they had loaded 20 cases on the system and had 9 more to be submitted & that I would have a case number by 12 midday (Saterday). This did not happen. I returned to the police station on Sunday morning(now 3 days later 72 hrs after the original reporting of the matter) I requsted to speak to the officer in charge to enquire as to Why I had heard nothing from them as promised. A black lady who refused to give me her name or rank told me I must go and see the person in the room at the back(this was a sergeant).i greeted him & asked if he was in charge, he said no I must talk to the WO Madegoe in front. He was still busy and so I explained to the black lady that refused to give me her rank & name the situation BUT while I was explaining to her she kept chipping in to talk & not. listen to what I had to say. I told her can she stop chipping in & let me finish talking. She sat back in her chair & told me she will not talk to me or help me further. She then proceeded in painting her finger nails(purple). The WO then got up & fetched a book to see if my report had been entered into it. He & I could find NO entry made in the book & then another black man in civilian clothes brought a pile of files to the counter in which my file was situated. I then asked him why had it not yet been entered into the book since Friday morning(3 days later) he told me that the WO would have to advise why the staff had not yet done their jobs. The WOthen joined the other black members in the back office & another black lady in civilian clothes just told us she/they could not do or give us a case number as the system was down & showed/told me my case file was not the only one to be done. I requested a signed/stamped letter from the WO stating that I had been there & they in fact hade my case file & that nothing had been done with it to date. They refused & said they can't do or give me anything. I told them I would come & see their commanding officer in the morning. They 'wiped their gat' and said 'Do it then.'

Today they arrested someone who was looking after my house for me. Came to my gate, were cross questioning me about the gentleman’s business with me. The more I said he was innocent and simply looking after my house the more rude and aggressive they became. They just grabbed him because he was taking his belongings back to his house in Tembisa. I was moving back into my house after being away, I never thought the very police who are sworn to protect me were the ones harassing me and unjustly arresting someone who was simply looking after my house as a favour. How very disheartening! People who call themselves officers of the “law”.

Outstanding service received by the officers. Professional, caring, efficiently dealt with the crisis. The officers shifts had ended but stayed at scene for over 2 hours until replacement officers arrived. I am so disappointed that I did not get their details they deserve to be recognized for the excellent manner in which they handled the crises. Well done Norkem Park Police Station from the moment I contacted you on the phone to the end of the crises your service was exemplary.
