Fraud alert !!! I received a quotation for goods amounting to R37490 on my email. Mind you I live in a different province, very far from their store, the quote came from CROWN MINES MAKRO. The quote was prepared by Dorcas Mokgosi. I When I called the store to inquire about this the said Dorcas claimed that a person by the name of Kamugelo had called and asked for the quote. My first question was my card number was used and my name verrrrry different from Kamugelo so how do you issue a quote on someone’s card number. Her reply was no Kamogelo said that the card belongs to his friend-strange because to protect consumers you cannot issue a quote on anyone’s number. The store management needs to look into this, as there is something happening, very fishy 😡😡😡😡. Now my card is with me,NOT LOST , so that means they take customers information from their system to use fraudulently. Very sad indeed.

Makro is my normal choice for monthly groceries but of late one needs to compare prices with other companies. Where Makro used to be very competitive in all categories, they are failing to secure good prices on a lot of essentials. Either the buyer is not securing the best pricing or the company is marking the prices up too high. I asked management to please repaint the zebra crossing lines on the road months ago and still has not been done. What are you guys going to do when someone gets knocked down by irrational drivers.

They deserve 0 stars in my opinion. I came here to buy a simple SD card, which should have taken me no more than 5 -10 Min to buy. The ladies at the counter sat there chatting to each other for a good 5 Min before one bothered to take an interest in my need of prices for 2 SD cards. When I asked for prices, I got told that the key to the cabinet that holds the SD cards is held by another staff member. When this lady was called, she apparently had to go fetch the key. And she never came back. And then the 3 ladies at this counter went on chatting and being busy on their mobile devices. A good 25 Min passed and still no key. When I asked for the manager of the store, I was told by the teller that she does not know who the manager is since they (tellers) are not employed by Makro. In my opinion this is a classic case of covering up for her co-worker even though she was clearly in the wrong. As she did not want me to report or lay a complaint about them. From the time I entered store to the time I left: a full 50 minutes. For 2 SD cards which can be bought at a dedicated counter that is not a part of the general groceries queue.. :((. Truly pathetic service here, with typical employee mentality where they get paid no matter how lazy or unproductive they are.

Big deals as usual. I got extremely exceptionally good customer service from a white gentleman (seems to be limping {sadly, didn't ask for his name} ) and also a middle aged black lady who helped placed a call to other stores to confirm availability of the swimming pool product I was looking for. I am impressed by the two especially when you rarely get good customer experience. My only concern is the small sized toilet considering the huge size of this store. This leave pressed customers queueing to ease themselves.

One word :"Big", the store is very big, in fact it's huge. Which is great cause it has everything one needs. The prices are also inexpensive. It is also great for bulk buyers as one can find goods in bulk for Lower prices. I was impressed. The staff is also friendly and the store itself is clean. From food, tools, alcohol, clothes, bicycle, phones, tvs, games, you name it
