  This is one of the top 3 pet shops I have been too this far. They have the widest variety of animals I have seen at any pet shop. I will definitely go back again.

  Besides for the lack of animal care (photos will be taken to the SPCA), Birds and Pets for Africa need to tend to their employees in terms of training, both in manners and how to approach customers, I was recently accused of tearing an open box of one of the products sold in store, a young helper approached me once i have placed the product back on the shelf and asked if i had tore the box, the manner in which he approached me was forceful and arrogant, I explained to him that although I viewed the contents of the box, it had already been open when I picked it up, he approached the sales personal, as did I, I questioned his approach by asking what the problem was, he arrogantly replied by admitting why he asked me is that If I tore the box of the product, he will have to force me to pay for the goods inside. Section 18 of the CPA - “Consumer’s right to choose or examine goods” - states: “Despite any statement or notice to the contrary, a consumer is not responsible for any loss or damage to any goods displayed by a supplier, unless the loss or damage results from action by the consumer amounting to gross negligence or recklessness, malicious behaviour or criminal conduct.” In other words, those “Nice to look at, lovely to hold; but if you should break it, consider it sold” notices which gift shops used to put on their shelves - and still do, in some cases - are not CPA-compliant. Well, there you have it. Unless a customer’s breaking of something in a shop can be put down to gross negligence, recklessness or malice, they can’t legally be made to pay for it. The repercussions of occasional clumsiness on the part of people like me have to be built into the cost of doing business.

  Great variety in a very chilled setting. There is a little something for everyone. Plants to reptiles to custom built cages. There is also an awesome biltong shop where I also buy my eggs from.

  They have a wide variety of birds and fish. The staff is friendly and helpful.
