  It's a small shop where one can only buy necessities and small items. Not ideal for trolley shopping as they only keep basic food. The bottle store sells normal and inexpensive alcohol. Service level rating is about 50%. For example, there are 3 cashiers and each is assigned to her till. There's one who works by the lottery machine and if she's not there, the other 2 cashiers cannot help you . Even if she's late or on lunch , they'll tell you that you must wait until she completes her lunch. That's bad service for me.

  These guys sell hardware-related stuff that's very difficult to get anywhere else, for example: mantles for hurricane lamps and gas lamps, single-use gas cylinders for small gas lamps of French or Russian design(example in 1st picture) and a lot more. They are also the only people I know of that sell paraffin at pump price since the Shell garage opposite the old Halfway House scout hall stopped doing it. As for LPG, they fill Cadac cylinders and also sell 9kg cylinders (2nd picture). Even when gas is short, eg. before a price increase, this shop has LPG on hand. They are also cheaper than Afrox and take any cylinder brand in. Bravo, Allandale Trading. Keep serving Midrand for a long time!
